Burrr! It is cold outside! Come in from the cold and experience a cozy cottage. Explore a wintry maze and learn about animal tracks in the snow. Creative Discovery Museum’s guest favorite, Winter Wonders, returns on Saturday, Nov. 17, 2012 through Tuesday, Jan. 8, 2013. The maze and cozy cottage will be open to all who visit the exhibit, as well as the ice skating area, a guest favorite.

Guests will celebrate the opening of the Winter Wonders exhibit with a blast of cold from the season’s “first snowfall” inside the Museum. In addition to playing in the artificial snow, guests will enjoy snow crème, snow dough, the appearance of “Mr. Snow” and “Suzy Snowflake,” and a special “Let It Snow! Show in the Atrium. Activities on this special “Snow Day” take place from 12 p.m. to 4 p.m. Children will be engaged as they make snowflake tortillas, enjoy a snow-painting snowstorm, participate in the Hansel and Gretel Opera performance and a skip around in the winter scarf jump-roping activity.

Winter Wonders offers families the opportunity to enjoy the magic of the holidays in a rich educational setting,” said Jayne Griffin, Director of Education at Creative Discovery Museum. “Kids experience the joy of giving through the Helping Hands exhibit and enjoy the fun of a winter day in the Winter Wonders exhibit and learn about all things cold in the Wintry Weather Science Demo.”

Throughout the Winter Wonders exhibit, children may play dress up in the cozy cottage, “make” gingerbread cookies. They can also take a stroll through the winter forest and spend time in the cozy reading area. Younger children will enjoy playing with puppets and acting out gingerbread and snow stories.
