Smiles will abound at Creative Discovery Museum on February 4, 2012 from 10 a.m. to Noon as preschoolers and their families play together on a camera safari setting.
Chattanooga Zoo is partnering with Creative Discovery Museum for the Preschool Adventure Day and will bring small animals to the Museum for children to pet and for photo opportunities. Children will experience multi-sensory, hands-on activities that incorporate music, art, literacy and lots of fun. Parents are encouraged to bring cameras to take pictures of their children in different safari settings. Ooltewah High School ROTC students and Howard High School Early Childhood students will be volunteering at the event and will be available to guide guests through the safari.
The Preschool Adventure includes making and eating a “vegetable jungle”, creating maps, using binoculars and crafting animal headbands. To wrap up the journey, there will be an opportunity for children to be a part of a “Group Safari.”
“The Camera Safari setting will encourage children and families to play together,” said Jenette Dean, the Museum’s PlayGym Coordinator and Early Childhood Educator. “New experiences will be present during Camera Safari that will stimulate language development and explore new patterns or learning.”
Preschool Adventure Saturdays provide enriching Museum experiences for children ages 18 months to 4 years. Each activity will be educationally and developmentally appropriate, so children will experience the theme of the day in a variety of ways that will be exciting for them.
This event is included in paid admission to the Museum.
