Creative Discovery Museum will welcome Judy Neighbors, author of Learn with BunnBunn: Hopping Through Months, Seasons and Holidays, on Saturday, July 2 from 1-3 p.m. in the Museum gift shop. During this time, guests will have the opportunity to purchase the book and have it signed by Neighbors.
Neighbors bought a bunny named “BunnBunn” several years ago and began taking photographs of her. BunnBunn enjoyed having her picture made and loved the attention. The idea for a book came to Neighbors after she approached Tate Publishing about publishing the book with pictures of BunnBunn dressed up in different outfits and an added bunny paw print on each of the illustrated pages of the book. The book now serves as a learning tool for children, teaching them about different seasons and bringing smiles to people of all ages.
Neighbors was born in Nebraska and moved to Chattanooga, Tennessee when she was 16 years old and began taking photographs of animals, people and landscapes as a hobby. As an adult, she took graphic design, advertising art and photography courses in college which led her to become a professional photographer.
BunnBunn lived six and a half years in a safe environment indoors and was never in danger during the photography sessions. Neighbors encourages people to think twice before purchasing a pet rabbit because of the considerable time, responsibility and patience required. She adds, “A stuffed rabbit may be a better choice, especially for children under the age of 10.”
The book signing is included with paid Museum admission. Books can be purchased in the shop for $10 on the day of the book signing.
