The CSO’s 85 season will open with Benjamin Britten’s Young Person’s Guide to the Orchestra, an engaging treat for all ages (watch out, you may learn something)! Then movie buffs will be thrilled to hear Tan Dun’s Crouching Tiger Concerto for Cello, a concert work based on Dun’s Oscar-winning score for Ang Lee’s Oscar-winning film Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon. Our guest artist, Benjamin Karp, from the University of Kentucky, performs this powerful piece. The concert will end with Mahler’s Symphony No. 1. While Mahler only referred to his 1st symphony as The Titan twice, with more than 100 musicians on stage we think it’s a deserving title!
