Here's the story:
The Howard School was founded in 1865, making it the oldest black public high school in the South. Four years ago, it was called a “dropout factory.” In 2011, we at Fancy Rhino started making a short about the school. We heard rumors that the State was moving in, that the school might be shut down. We wanted to document.
But we found we couldn’t observe without taking part. We started teaching a film class, and found with time that the story grew. So we gathered support from community members to make a feature length movie.
Don't miss this new locally-made feature-length documentary film about historic Howard School, founded in 1865 as one of the earliest black public schools in the South. FREE ADMISSION
