For the fourth year in a row, Creative Discovery Museum will host a food tasting event with southern flavor. On Saturday, June 2, from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m., the Museum will set out to find the area’s best biscuit. For the past few years, Creative Discovery Museum has awarded the area’s best banana pudding and cobbler. This year, the area’s best biscuit will take center stage in the southern tradition.

Readers will be asked to submit their recommendations to Liza Blair, Arts Manager at Creative Discovery Museum. All submissions will be due by May 4. The top five nominated restaurants will be invited to the Museum to participate in Creative Discovery Museum’s biscuit tasting. Guests will then be able to judge the area’s best biscuit and the winner will be crowned at 3 p.m. Because biscuits are seldom served alone, a jam and honey station will be available for guests.

“Perhaps no other food smacks of southern culture more than the biscuit. Flaky and moist, dense and compact, sweet or dry, no other food is so easily recognized, loved and devoured as the biscuit,” said Liza Blair, Arts Manager. “Our goal for this event is simple: to provide guests with a taste experience and a chance to see how something as common as the biscuit can reflect a wide range of taste and talent representative of southeast bakers.”

The public is invited to nominate their favorite biscuit-serving restaurant by May 4 by emailing Liza at llb@cdmfun.org.

Guests should check the Museum calendar at www.cdmfun.org for updates. The biscuit-tasting is free with paid admission to the Museum.

The biscuit-tasting event is part of ArtsLive!, a year-round program connecting kids with visual and performing artists. Monthly Performances and demonstrations by professional artists give children the opportunity to experience art first hand, talk with the artist and even try the art form themselves. ArtsLive! is funded through Allied Arts of Greater Chattanooga and Tennessee Arts Commission.
