Ages 7 to 10
In its thirteenth year, Friends Discovery Camp, an inclusive camp designed for kids with autism and their typically developing peers, will be zoned for building excitement this summer! From June 4 to June 15, children ages 7 to 10 will have a unique and fun day-camp experience as part of “Friends Discovery Camp 2012: Tinkering Around.”
“Friends Discovery Camp 2012: Tinkering Around” will bring back the best activities from Friends Discovery Camp in the past and add new activities focused on the Museum’s summer exhibit, “TINKERTOY: Build Your Imagination. Friends Discovery Camp 2012: Tinkering Around is supported by UTC and Chattanooga Parks and Recreation. This exciting partnership will offer children with and without autism the opportunity to make new friends and lasting friendships while having fun in a safe and fun environment.
During this two-week camp, children and their Buddies will tinker around the Museum as they create snacks, build things with tools, and play in the water. Campers will also go on at least two off-site adventures.
