Savor the flavor of China at Creative Discovery Museum on February 11 from Noon to 1 p.m. Formosa Chinese Restaurant’s Mitchell Linn will give Museum guests the opportunity to prepare Chinese Fried Rice, a tasty dish enjoyed by many in China and the United States alike. Linn, the Manager at Formosa Chinese Restaurant, will offer a unique cooking demonstration in Culinary Corner and will provide insight into how popular Chinese cuisine is prepared. Children and families will have the opportunity to share in the excitement by sampling rice at the end of the demonstration.

“Celebrating culture through food is an easy and fun way to encourage kids to become interested in learning about different communities,” said Liza Blair, Arts Manager at Creative Discovery Museum. “This cooking class will give our guests a unique look into the process of cooking Chinese fried rice and provide another layer of experience to compliment the current traveling exhibit: Children of Hangzhou: Connecting with China.”

The Formosa Chinese Restaurant cooking demonstration is part of Creative Discovery Museum’s ArtsLive! program, which highlights local artistic talent. As part of the ArtsLive! calendar for 2012, the Museum will invite local restaurants, food artisans and food experts to lead special classes throughout the year. Guests are invited to stay after the cooking demonstration to explore Creative Discovery Museum’s newest exhibit Children of Hangzhou: Connecting with China. This interactive exhibit focuses on the lives of four Chinese young people. Visitors can follow the young people to the theatre, classroom, library and through the countryside.
