Lantern Tours are available at Ruby Falls every Friday and Saturday night through mid-September, where the cave is always 60 degrees! Since 2006, Ruby Falls has been offering special Lantern Tours designed to showcase the cave and the 145-foot waterfall like the original discoverers found it.

“The Lantern Tours, which run year round every Friday and Saturday night at 8:30 pm,* provide a more intimate setting as the staged lighting is turned off and the only illumination is generated from the lanterns of the guests,” said Kara Van Brunt, senior director of operations and strategic development at Ruby Falls.

The limited tour size, total darkness in the cave and specialty guides are something Ruby Falls organizes especially for the purpose and benefit of a more private and intimate tour setting for guests.

Equipped with small electrical lanterns, guests descend to the start of the tour 260 feet down an elevator with their guide. “The lantern lights inspire a sense of discovery and mystery that we knew we wanted to share,” added Ms. Van Brunt. “The experience ties in with the Ruby Falls folklore, history and geological wonders.”

To make reservations for a Lantern Tour call 1-800-755-7105 or visit www.rubyfalls.com/lanterntours. The tour is $21.95 for adults and children.

Ruby Falls is America’s deepest commercial cave and largest underground waterfall open for public viewing.
