On May 7, Creative Discovery Museum’s Preschool Adventure Saturday will be themed “Grow a Garden” and will highlight gardening activities from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. for children age 18 months to 4 years. From tasting fruits and making flower collages to playing in Mr. McGregor’s shed, children will experience gardening through multi-sensory, hands-on activities that incorporate music, art, literacy and lots of fun!
Gardening themed activities will include creating vegetable and fruit prints, visiting a fruit stand to taste fruits, and making flowers and designing flower collages. Children may crawl through a rabbit hole, play in Mr. McGregor’s shed (like the literary favorite, Peter Rabbit) and visit with a live bunny. Plus, children will plant a surprise that they get to take home and watch to see what grows!
“Early childhood educators stress that children learn best by experiencing multi-sensory activities,” stated Jenette Dean, the Museum’s PlayGym Coordinator and Early Childhood Educator. “This will be a highly sensory-rich event which will foster future learning. It will be a busy and fun filled 2 hours for parents and young children.”
Preschool Adventure Saturdays provide enriching Museum experiences for children ages 18 months to 4 years. Each activity will be educationally and developmentally appropriate, so children will experience the theme of the day in a variety of ways that will be exciting for them.
This event is free with paid admission. The May 7 Preschool Adventure Saturday will be the final one for the season. The event will resume in Fall 2011.
