Children are the stars of their own show, getting to practice both behind the scenes and on stage activities, during Creative Discovery Museum’s Theatre Games. This new monthly arts activity is presented by the Museum’s only resident artist group, Ensemble Theatre of Chattanooga.
During each 30 minute session, children ages 4 and older may produce a play, recite lines, wear costumes, practice listening techniques, and more. Children will work together to produce a play using scripts, which they can keep. All plays are based on classic work but are specially redesigned for younger audiences.
“Theatre Games is a fantastic opportunity for kids of all ages to experience the in’s and out’s of producing a play, learning cooperative play techniques, and knowing how to take direction,” says Liza Blair, Creative Discovery Museum’s Arts Manager. “Ensemble Theatre of Chattanooga presents an interactive, highly-charged, fun theatre program that let’s kids and adults work and play together in a safe and positive environment.”
ArtsLive! is a year-round program connecting kids with visual and performing artists. Monthly Performances and demonstrations by professional artists give children the opportunity to experience art first hand, talk with the artist and even try the art form themselves. ArtsLive!is funded through Allied Arts of Greater Chattanooga and Tennessee Arts Commission.
Guests should check the Museum calendar at www.cdmfun.org for dates and times Theatre Games will be offered.
