Creative Discovery Museum will welcome the Atlanta-based Capitol City Opera Company on Saturday, March 19 at 2 p.m. to present Seuss-some Twosome, a zanily unique opera performance. This is Chattanooga’s only opera event especially tailored for children.

Children will be invited to join the musical action on stage with the familiar characters Gertrude McFuzz and Sam I Am. Dressed in bright costumes and acting out humor-filled story lines, these Seuss personalities will show children the importance of loving yourself just as you are and keeping an open mind.

“In celebration of Dr. Seuss’ birthday, Creative Discovery Museum is bringing back Capitol City Opera of Atlanta to present a special and unique live performance,” states Liza Blair, Arts Manager for Creative Discovery Museum. “Opera is an experience all children should witness. It is a great way to showcase two unique art forms, singing and stage performance.”

Capital City Opera Company is an established resident repertory opera troupe with over 20 years experience. They perform fully staged and costumed operas specifically for kids. The Museum is able to host this show in part with Young Audiences of Atlanta.

The performance is free with paid admission to the Museum. This program is part of Creative Discovery Museum’s ArtsLive!, a year-round program connecting kids with visual and performing artists. Monthly performances and demonstrations by professional artists give children the opportunity to experience art first hand, talk with the artist and even try the art form themselves. ArtsLive! is funded through Allied Arts of Greater Chattanooga and Tennessee Arts Commission.
