Unlocking passages of yesterday and offering a gateway to the future, the Creative Discovery Museum will have you traveling time in style during their annual fundraiser, AmuseUm, "the party for grown-ups that benefits kids". This year’s party, Time Warp is offering ‘round the clock fun beginning at 7p.m.on Saturday, March 5th. Dress is casual.

The Museum gratefully acknowledges Chattem as lead sponsor of AmuseUm 2011. The event is also presented in part by First Tennessee Foundation, Baker Donelson Bearman Caldwell and Berkowitz, Republic Parking, BlueCross BlueShield of Tennessee, Miller & Martin and Unum.

"We are particularly excited about this year's event and the support it raises for the Museum. The “Time Warp” theme features activities and decorations from decades past and will be one of the best AmuseUm parties ever," states Ashley Davenport. Ashley and her husband Ward are Co-Chairing the AmuseUm event which is now in its 15th year. One of the new “things” that Ashley, Ward, and a crew of volunteers are planning include an on-line silent auction in addition to the great one-of-a-kind auction packages available during the event. The on-line auction will run Feb. 14 through March 2 and can be accessed on the Museum’s website at www.cdmfun.org.

Guests will have the opportunity to feel like real time travelers with areas of the Museum offering themed experiences showcasing the unique feel and flair of previous decades and a also a unique peek into the future. From an encounter with Chattanooga’s train history, to a snack in a “fabulous fifties” diner, to the 60'sBeach Party’s “Beach Dig”, it’s all about allowing guests to relive those times of carefree fun. And dancing shoes will get a workout as the Museum Atrium features Disco Fever, with guests getting to sample delicacies prepared by Lee Towery. And while tie dye may not be part of today’s fashion trend, guests won’t want to miss a stop at the psychedelic buffet for a “groovy” snack. And no time machine tour is complete without an opportunity to take a peek into the future with a look at “Tomorrowland”, a “futuristic” experience guests will wholly enjoy.

As a special treat, attendees will also have the opportunity to buy a VIP ticket which provides guest access to the “Speak Easy VIP Lounge” which will have special themed entertainment provided by the Ben Freiburg Trio and special drinks and food from the “roaring twenties”.

AmuseUm is the model fundraiser for charities across our area. It is always fun and exciting, but very different every year. More importantly, it is a joyous occasion where people support an integral part of our community,” says Monique Berke, Board Chair of the Museum. “Participants know that the dollars raised keep Creative Discovery Museum open to everyone throughout the year, giving children the opportunity to experience fun exhibits and educational programming that sparks creativity and ignites life-long learning."

Auction Co-Chairs, Andee and Jonathon Guthrie, have found fantastic and exotic items to make it easy for guests of AmuseUm 2011 to further support the Museum by bidding at the event’s silent and live auctions. A few teasers include; Tickets to a Practice Round at the exclusive 2011 Masters Golf Tournament at Augusta, a pair of Tennessee Titans suite tickets that include a pre-game sideline pass, and the use of a cottage on Martha’s Vineyard, plus much, much more.

When guests need a break from the time capsule, the Museum’s Rooftop will offer a get-away from all the ruckus where guests can relax under the Rooftop Tent while enjoying craft beer tasting provided by Chattanooga Brewery. Attendees can also satisfy their sweet tooth’s wildest desires in the Decadent Dessert Lounge serving Mike and Joy Irwin’s locally renowned Gigi’s Cupcakes.
