Beethoven’s Legacy: Beethoven’s shadow has loomed large over countless composers, including those writing today. Brahms famously said “You have no idea how it feels to hear behind you the footsteps of a giant like Beethoven.” Yet Brahms created music of tremendous originality and depth, including his Piano Quartet in G minor with its unforgettable Gypsy style final movement. Pierre Jalbert’s Trio conveys Beethoven’s spirit through tightly constructed, muscular writing.
