Creative Discovery Museum’s Fall Break Camp will make the book series, Chronicles of Narnia by C.S. Lewis, come to life. This camp, offered October 18 – October 22 from 9:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., will give children a unique experience designed after a literary favorite that spans generations. Age groups for the camp are Kindergarten through 2nd grade and 3rd to 5th grade.
Campers can play hard with active games and Museum exploration, while putting their imaginations to work as they enjoy the magical world of Narnia. From cooking to learning magic to building ships and designing a castle, children will love this special journey. There will also be opportunities for kids to create their own dragon, practice archery, and make magic rings. Kids will truly immerse themselves in Narnia on “dress like your favorite Narnian character” day. Ice and Snow Day will cool kids off as well as educate and entertain them. As a special treat, The Southern Belle will be touring campers along the Chattanooga River on a special boating field trip just like the Dawn Treader.
“With the books and the new movie Voyage of the Dawn Treader, coming out, we expect this to be a theme that will be popular with kids right now,” states Lynne Mulligan, the Museum’s Program Manager. “The Chronicles of Narnia is such a classic series of children’s books – certainly some of my own favorites and also ones that my own child enjoyed a great deal. This program will encourage kids to read the books and marvel at the world of Narnia through the printed word and the experiences we’ll have at camp.”
