Creative Discovery Museum welcomes a visit from New York Pop Artist, Michael Albert, whose colorful, eye-catching collages of familiar icons are a natural appeal for kids. Cerealism, a term coined by Albert, describes his trademark artwork comprised of cereal box collages. On September 19th from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. the artist will demonstrate his works and give kids an opportunity to create their own unique collage art similar to those that made him famous.
“Anytime children can watch an artist in action is a great moment. Michael Albert’s work is fun and colorful, and kids will have fun playing while learning his style when they create their own collage,” said Creative Discovery Museum’s Arts Manager, Liza Blair.
Michael Albert studied business at New York University, where he also began applying his artistic vision. In 1996, he began with a Frosted Flakes cereal box and entitled it “Portrait of an American Classic”. His body of work now includes nearly 600 Cerealism pieces. Additional iconic product packaging has been the focus of a variety of his later works, including some of his favorite brands from Ritz Crackers and Stove Top Stuffing to Lipton Tea and Coca-Cola.
