Jerry Bowman performs interactive series at Creative Discovery Museum beginning Saturday, March 21, 2009 from 1-3pm.

Beginning Saturday, March 21 from 1-3pm, Creative Discovery Museum is offering the first in a three-part live performance art series, featuring local artist, and actor, Jerry Bowman. This event is free with paid admission to the museum.

Bowman will be creating site-specific performances to compliment existing museum exhibits and temporary exhibits. These performances will provide a unique, dramatic approach to exhibit interpretations. All performances will be interactive and appropriate for young children and families.

“Anytime children can engage with an actor in a dramatic performance is just sheer magic,” said Liza Blair, Arts Manager for Creative Discovery Museum. “What Jerry is doing is creating a new level of understanding about our exhibits in a way that we have not done before. Using dramatic performance as a teaching tool is a great way to keep a child’s focus while engaging them in a fun activity involving pretend and drama. For kids, this is the perfect combination for having fun.”

Live Interactive Performance Series will take place in the Creative Discovery Museum’s Atrium on Saturday, March 21 from 1-3pm; Saturday, June 20 from 1-3pm, and Saturday, September 19 from 1-3pm.

Spring hours, beginning March 1 -- open Monday through Saturday (including Wednesday) 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., Sunday noon to 5 p.m.
