Barnes Gym was built in 1972 to provide extra classrooms and a much-needed space for Covenant’s growing athletic program. It was named after Dr. Marion D. Barnes, the second President of Covenant College, and the mastermind of the original campus expansion plan. Barnes houses the Athletics department, a gym, and several workout rooms. The top two floors are comprised of Coaches’ offices, classrooms, and an indoor corridor linking Barnes and Ashe Activity Center . Also, on the main floor is our gymnasium which seats 2000, and serves as the home court for Scots and Lady Scots Basketball and Lady Scots Volleyball. The lower level of the building houses a climbing wall, an aerobics room, and a weight room.
