Nativity Rising Artists presents Nathan Francisco performing virtuosic works for cello including Tchaikovsky’s Rococo Variations, the “piccolo cello” solo from Bach’s Cantata 6 and featuring dances from Bach’s 4th Cello Suite and David Poppers “Vito” Spanish dance. This performance is part of The Church of the Nativity’s monthly Rising Artists series. Nativity also presents a Mini-Concert series with organist and music director Kristopher Schwinn.

Nathan Francisco, 14, plays the viol da gamba, cello and organ. This year, Nathan placed first in the junior division of the 2017 Tennessee Cello Workshop Competition at UTK and has been asked to compete in the next division. In February, he performed Fauré’s “Elegie” with the Southern Adventist University Symphony Orchestra as one of this year’s winners of its annual concerto competition and then accompanied the orchestra on a week’s tour of Puerto Rico. A past Chattanooga Music Club scholarship recipient, Nathan studies cello with Wesley Baldwin at UTK, organ with Judy Glass at SAU. In a few years, he plans to continue his music studies at conservatory.
