When you don't agree with someone, it can be hard to hear them out. This class will address some principles and tangible examples of how to truly listen to someone, in person and online, especially when their comments/ideals/beliefs are in seemingly direct opposition to yours.

In this class, we will:

  • Define listening vs. hearing
  • Explore different methods of communication (verbal, non-verbal, social media, etc.)
  • Roleplay the importance of eye contact, body posture, and "parroting"
  • Practice "active listening" skills with partners in 5-minute conversation scenarios

You’ll walk out with the ability to be a better friend or co-worker and ultimately a better person!
