The Association for Visual Arts (AVA ) will host an event on December 10 at 8:00 p.m. with FOUND Magazine as they travel across the country for their 10th Anniversary
Tour.

FOUND was started by two brothers, Davy and Peter Rothbart, and is a collection of found objects: love letters, birthday cards, kids’ homework, to-do lists, ticket stubs, poetry on napkins, doodles – anything that gives us a glimpse into someone else’s life. It has been featured on the David Letterman Show, NPR, New Yorker Magazine, GQ, among others.

The brothers got the idea for this project in the winter of 2000 after Davy went out to his car and found a break-up note on his windshield — a note meant for someone else, a guy named Mario.

“We loved this note — its amazing mixture of anger and hopefulness — and so we shared it with as many folks as we could,” say the brothers. “Each friend we showed the Mario and Amber note to seemed to have a few finds to show us in return. As a way for everyone to join forces and share their finds with everyone else, we decided to start a magazine called FOUND, a showcase for all the strange, hilarious and heartbreaking things people have picked up.”

The event at AVA will feature an exhibition of the latest finds that’ve landed in the mailbox at FOUND, plus outrageous tales from Davy’s new book, My Heart is an Idiot, while Peter will perform beautiful, haunting, and hilarious songs based on FOUND notes.

Tickets for the event cost $5 and can be purchased on AVA ’s website or at the door.
