As Isaac is a group of young singer songwriters with a sound distinguished by acoustic melodies, captivating three part harmonies and a contagious fun spirit. Formed out of a ragtag group of students from Calvary Chapel Chattanooga (think school of rock goes to church), they’ve grown and settled into a unique and mature sound. With varied musical interests, from bluegrass to rock and classical to folk and hip hop to traditional hymns and modern worship songs, their music reflects elements of each. Last fall they released their debut album produced by Don Chaffer (of Waterdeep) and have played for Precept Transform student conferences and opened for Kristian Stanfill (Passion worship leader and sixsteps recording artist) and Eric Peters (Nashville singer songwriter). Without being predictable, their sound is accessible and relevant.
The band members are: Kristian Croxall (bass & ukulele, 15 years old); Rachel Kelly (violin, vocals & songwriter, 17 years old & a recent graduate of GPS); Peri McIntosh (keys, vocals & songwriter, 18 years old & a sophomore at Lee University); Zach Smith (guitar, ukulele, accordion, vocals & songwriter, 24 years old & a graduate of Lee University). Stephen Humphries (hammered dulcimer & percussion) and Nathan Shirai (percussion & mandolin) will be accompanying As Isaac.
