Here's a story that will make one feel good about Chattanooga. The band liked Chattanooga so well, they moved here. Hailing from the Detroit area, the band has been playing locally for several months. I know, it's just what we needed - more Yankees from Michigan. I have made it a habit to study on Yankees, especially those of the Michigan species. I like to watch their habits, study how they talk, and observe what they do in certain situations. Don’t forget, I studied one so much, I married her.

I have found them to be somewhat similar to us. Come to find out, Michigan Yankees like many of the same things we do. Who'd a thunk it? One of the only ways you can detect them among us, is the funny way they talk. They even have strange names for some things, like coke is a soda or a pop.

Everyone knows a soft drink is simply Coke. It doesn't matter if you are buying Diet Coke, Dr. Pepper, or root beer; they are all cokes. Not soda. Not pop. And surely not soda pop. Let I digress, this is supposed to be a music column.
The Power Play Band, from the Detroit area has relocated to Tennessee. This is Michigan’s loss and our gain. This band is a throwback to the days when a band put on a show when playing. You know they are in the house when they play. They play blues, rock, and some funk. They are kinda like the blues brothers on speed, without horns. They do some Motown, ZZ top, Nugent, and even some prince. (Note: Kinda is a word in the south, just like fixin.) They even do Mustang Sally, but Pat talked them into playing it after we left. This band will get folks up to dance. They have a website, easily accessed by visiting thepowerplayersshowband.com. If you want to see them live, they will be playing at Spectators on East Brainerd Road Friday night. Bring your dancing shoes! Thanks Michigan!
