On Wednesday, November 9, from 9 a.m. to noon, representatives from La Paz Chattanooga will partner with United Way’s Center for Nonprofits to present a training workshop for organizations seeking to engage and market to the Latino community.

The workshop will be held in the CNP Training Room on the first floor of the United Way building, at 630 Market Street in downtown Chattanooga. The workshop is free and open to the public and is part of the Center for Nonprofits’ training series.

This workshop will show organizations how to adequately engage and serve the growing Latino community in the Greater Chattanooga area.

There are an estimated 20,000 Latinos living in Chattanooga. Among younger Latinos, the public school enrollment has more than tripled between 2001 and 2008. From cultural subtleties to deeply-rooted beliefs and practices, the Latino community is widely diverse and affects the politics, society, health, education and business of our community.

“La Paz receives calls daily from businesses and organizations seeking information on how to reach the Latino community,” said Stacy Johnson, Executive Director of La Paz Chattanooga. “We want to educate Chattanooga on prominent issues related to the Latino community, which is the fastest-growing segment of the population.”

“We are especially pleased to partner with La Paz in offering our nonprofit community the opportunity to better understand, and thereby, better engage the Latino Community,” said Sheila Moore, Executive Director of the Center for Nonprofits.
