Pizza Man, a dark comedy about two troubled women who decide to exact revenge on a randomly chosen victim, will be presented for two performances, August 26 and 27, 2011, at the Chattanooga Theatre Centre.
The play, written by Darlene Cravioto, is bound for the Tennessee Theatre Association competition in Dixon, Tennessee, in October.
Maria Chattin-Carter plays Julie, a woman who gets a pink slip after rejecting the advances of her boss and is drinking to forget. Stephanie Smith plays Alice, whose anger over her boyfriend’s return to his wife pushes her into an eating binge. The drunk Julie and the overfed Alice hatch a plan: pick a guy – any guy – and rape him to get even for the damage done to them by men. Enter the pizza delivery man – played by Seth Patton – who accepts their seemingly harmless invitation to stay and share a beer with them. From there the evening gets crazy, wild, angry, and very, very funny.
Garrell Woods directs the play, which contains adult situations and language.
The performances are Friday and Saturday, August 26 and 27, at 7:30 p.m. on the Circle Stage. Tickets are $5.00 and are available at the door.
Concurrent with the October TTA competition, Chattanooga Theatre Centre’s Youth Theatre will present their highly popular production from the 2009-2010 season, Jack and the Beanstalk, at the Children’s Theatre Festival in Dixon.
