On August 12th, “The Bessie” will present “Standing the Test of Time”, a 52 minutes documentary tracing the history of legendary blues artist Bobby Rush. The documentary also includes his relationship with other artists such as Bobby “Blue” Bland, Lonnie Brooks, and others. This program portrays the struggles and triumphs of Mr. Rush and provides a deeper understanding of the spirit of this great blues entertainer. This event will be hosted by Napoleon “Donut” Williams and Sociologist, Dr. Clark White will provide a harmonica demonstration and brief lecture on the blues. The event starts at 5:00 p.m. and will be held in the Bessie Smith Performance Hall.
