Come join 2 North Shore as they celebrate their Fourth Annual Earth Day Festival this Saturday, April 16. As the region’s first Gold LEED certified shopping center, 2 North Shore practices responsible stewardship of natural resources every day. But once a year they like to make a big deal and have some extra fun with it!

“This is why we built this center,” said Steve Arnsdorff, Managing Director at 2 North Shore. “To see a healthy and sustainable lifestyle built into the core of our community.”

Kicking things off from 8:00 a.m. to 12:00 noon, you can participate in the citywide Clean & Green trash pick-up sponsored by Volkswagen. Just check-in in the courtyard at 2 North Shore and all supplies will be provided to help clean up Manufacturers Road. Organizers of the clean up note that “a cleaner downtown improves our quality of life by attracting visitors, reducing crime, encouraging new businesses and more than anything – instilling pride in the city we all call home.”

North Shore Yoga will also be offering a community yoga class for all levels outdoor in the Courtyard at 2 North Shore from 12:00 noon to 1:00 p.m. with all proceeds going to the Trust for Public Land-Chattanooga. One of the main goals of this non-profit organization is to ensure that everyone, particularly children, enjoy access to a park, playground or natural area close to their home. The most recognized initiative in our community that benefited from them is our Riverpark that stretches from Coolidge Park to the Chickamauga Dam.

Activities for children will include free gelato for children ten and under at Greenlife Grocery with an exciting planting activity outside with staff from the Creative Discovery Museum where children will be able to plant a seed to repurpose their gelato cup from 11:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. From 11:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. there will also be a bounce house for the young and young at heart. And Dora and Elmo will be around visiting for the day. From 1:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. attendees will be able to enjoy live music from the Chickamauga Rodeo band. And Clay Binkley, an artist who works with recycled metal to create beautiful pieces, will have his work on display throughout the day.

2 North Shore is located on the north side of the Tennessee River on Manufacturers Road just over the Market Street or Highway 27 bridges from downtown.
