We've been fortunate to have David Grier-- perhap's the world's top flatpicking guitarist-- in quite a few contexts over the years. His solo performances are mesmerizing, his duos with Mike Compton telepathic, and his trio show with Shad Cobb and Noam Pikelny has become a bit of a legend. So how long did I hesitate when David suggested bringing a quintet, playing mostly bluegrass? Shad is back on fiddle, the great Missy Raines on bass, Stephin Mougin (from the Sam Bush Band) on mando and Jimmy Stewart (from Brooks & Dunn) on dobro. Plenty of vocals, too. How long did I hesitate? He who hesitates is lost. Really lost.
