A couple of years ago four old friends from Chattanooga, TN reconnected in Knoxville over a shared love and interest in music. We started out playing songs by the artists we loved: The Band, Neil Young, Bruce Springsteen, Johnny Cash, Hank Williams, Merle Haggard, Whiskeytown, Son Volt, Tom Petty, and the Rolling Stones. From Shawna's fiddle to Tasha's harmonies to Russ' bass and Dave's guitar, we found ourselves creating a sound and interpretation of those songs we loved that was a little bit different from anything else we had heard. Call it bluegrass or country or folk or acoustic or Americana or whatever you like. We just call it a good time. After a while we started writing our own songs and developing our own sound, and what resulted was Kelsey's Woods. Currently just a three-piece band since Tasha's departure in the summer of 2009, Kelsey's Woods is rooted in bluegrass, folk, country, and even a little rock and roll. With the all-acoustic sound, three (and four) part harmonies, interchangeable lead singers, and original songs speaking on themes from love, heartbreak, loss, murder, redemption, and the age old tradition of finding salvation in a whiskey glass, we hope you'll find a brand new take on an old familiar sound. --KW
