Across the U.S. foreclosures are on the rise and locally 149 homes or 1 of every 656 homes in Chattanooga received a foreclosure notice in August according to Realtytrac.com. Realizing that 24% of these foreclosed properties are located in the neighborhoods of East Chattanooga and Brainerd, CNE has partnered with East Chattanooga Weed and Seed and New Covenant Fellowship Church to host free foreclosure prevention workshops in these communities. The workshops will be held from 6 pm – 8 pm on the following days:
East Chattanooga
Thursday, October 14
6 pm – 8 pm
Carver Recreational Center
600 N. Orchard Knob Avenue
Brainerd
Tuesday, October 26
6 pm-8 pm
New Covenant Fellowship Church
1326 N. Moore Road
Homeowners attending the workshops will learn about helpful foreclosure prevention strategies, resources available if they are unable to pay their mortgage, information about foreclosure scams and the steps to take if homeowners have become a victim of a foreclosure scam.
“As some Chattanoogans struggle to meet increasing mortgage payments and face the possibility of foreclosure, we want them to know of the free resources that CNE has available to them during these difficult times,” said David Johnson, CNE’s President & CEO. “We encourage not only families in East Chattanooga and Brainerd to attend but all families in Chattanooga that are struggling with their mortgage.”
