The Ensemble Theatre of Chattanooga continues it's quest to further define the craft of theatre by producing Samuel Beckett's play ENDGAME. "Endgame is about nothing in particular, and everything. It's about the end of a reality and the beginning of a journey. It's a play full of non-sequiturs, yet its threaded together by universal themes. It's your basic absurdist play," quips ETC Founding Producing Partner and resident director Garry Lee Posey.

The play centers around the relationship of Hamm, blind and bound to a wheeled chair, and Clov, who lacks the ability to sit down. Hamm and Clov's relationship, on the surface, seems to be that of the master-servant classification, but Beckett toys with the audience's expectations in how he handles it. He also toys with dramatic structure in much the same way. "Beckett wanted to strip as many of the structural and dramatic elements of theatre away in order to see if the essence of theatre could still exist," mentions Producing Partner Christy Gallo. WIth ENDGAME, ETC keeps right in line with their season-long commitment of exploring the craft of theatre and mixing artistic mediums. ETC's take on ENDGAME examines the relationship between the art and the artist and the inspiration versus the realization.

ENDGAME features John Thomas Cecil, Kelly Lapsczynski, Randal Pennignton and Casey Keelen. Christy Gallo stage manages with costumes by Brenda Schwab. The production is directed by Garry Lee Posey.

The plays runs Fridays at 7:30pm Saturdays at 2:00pm and Sundays at 3:00pm, September 24th through October 10th. Tickets are $10 for adults and $8 for students.
