Warehouse Row is excited to present the Southern Foodways Alliance (SFA) Potlikker Film Fest, an acclaimed special event celebrating Southern food and film, on Friday, August 20 from 5 to 8 p.m. Set in the heart of downtown Chattanooga’s historic district, Warehouse Row will provide a lively and modern backdrop for the SFA, the University of Mississippi-based nonprofit organization that documents, studies, and celebrates the diverse food cultures of the American South, as they present documentary films, share Southern fare and kick back to regional music.
The Potlikker Film Fest will feature three short documentaries directed by the SFA’s Joe York, including “Hot Chicken,” a love letter to Prince’s Chicken Shack of Nashville, Tenn., and “CUD,” a profile of Georgia cattleman Will Harris of White Oak Pastures. Food highlights will include blazing-hot and icebox-cold fried chicken by native Chattanooga chef Daniel Lindley of St. John's Restaurant as well as whole hog BBQ pork tacos by chef Drew Robinson of Jim ‘N Nicks, made using hogs from the sustainable Sequatchie Cove Farm of Chattanooga and Riverview Farms of Ranger, Ga. Hometown Chattanooga band Gerle Haggard will provide live music with guitar, banjo, bass, dobro and mandolin in hand.
Admission to the Potlikker Film Fest is by advance reservation only. Tickets are $50 and are available online at www.southernfoodways.org.
