“Scenes from Shakespeare” Will Celebrate the Bard’s Birthday at the CTC April 23, 24.

Will is turning 446! And to celebrate the occasion, Shakespeare Chattanooga will present “Scenes from Shakespeare” on the Bardian Birthday, April 23, and the day after, April 24 at the Chattanooga Theatre Centre.

“The truth is, you don’t turn 446 every day,” said SC Producing Director Janis Hashe. “So we decided to honor Mr. S by doing an evening of seven scenes from seven plays—a Shakespeare Sampler, if you Will. Excuse the pun.”

Directors Robert Bass, Dakota Brown, Tom Conway, Janis Hashe, Michael Rudez, Stephanie Smith and Wendy Tippens are directing scenes from Antony & Cleopatra, The Merchant of Venice, Macbeth, Much Ado About Nothing, Richard III, Romeo & Juliet and The Taming of the Shrew.

“Some of the directors are very experienced, and some are beginners,” said Hashe. “One of the goals of the evening is to give both directors and actors additional experience in working with classical text.”

Actors include Amy Austin, Robert Bass, Dakota Brown, Heidi Bradway, Carlene Conway, Kate Conway, Tom Conway, Willie Derrick, Steven Disbrow, Lindsay Fussell, John Hammons, Nancy Hammons, Kim Jackson, Luke LaGraff, Jonathan Nichols, Amanda Sedlin, Lawrence Sneed, Rodney Strong, Wes Rehberg, Rodney Van Valkenberg and Jacqueline Weill.
