Iowa Blues duo, Joe and Vicki Price will catapult their blues in concert on January 28th at The Mudpie Restaurant located at 12 Frazier Avenue in Chattanooga. The show starts at 9:00pm. This couples performance has been described as a righteous, joyful, foot-stomping jubilee. You dont want to miss it.
Joe Price has been performing his ruff and tumble blues for over 35 years. This is country blues in the Muddy Waters, Elmore James tradition, a bit rough and tons of fun. Vicki Price brings her own songwriting and soulful vocals to the stage, playing second guitar to her husband in an exchange that has been likened to witnessing an intimate conversation.
Joe Price was inducted into the Iowa Blues Hall of Fame in 2002, The Iowa Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2007, and was a finalist in the International Blues Challenge 2006. He has appeared on National Public Radio on the Michael Feldman show What Do You Know and the Big Top Chautauqua show were he opened for Grammy nominated folk singer Greg Brown. Joe and Vickis flamboyant, distinctive work on the Reso-Lectric guitars earned them the endorsement of the National Reso-Phonic Guitar Company in 2006. The power duo were featured performers at Iowa Governor Chet Culvers inauguration celebration in 2007.
The couple released five CDs on Iowas Trailer Records label. Sadly, in 2007 Trailer Records shut its doors. Taking the initiative the couple released two CDs on their own label, Blues Acres Productions. In October of 2008 A Brand New Place which features 10 new tunes penned by Vicki was released and in March of 2009 Joes collection of original songs Rain or Shine. Both releases made the top 100 CDs of 2009 in Real Blues Magazine. A Brand New Place was nominated for Best independent release at the International Blues Challenge in 2008. Rain or Shine has received rave reviews in major publications including Vintage Guitar Magazine, The American Music Guide, Blues Matters Magazine and the Chicago Sun Times. It has recieved nominations for an Independent Music Award for best blues CD 2009, Best Independent Release at the International Blues Challenge 2009 and Best Blues CD 2009 by the Blues Forum in The Netherlands.
This pair have opened for such notables as John Lee Hooker, Willie Dixon, Pine Top Perkins, Homesick James, Honey Boy Edwards, Louisiana Red, The Reverend Al Green, Greg Brown and Iris DeMent . From coast to coast, and from concerts, to clubs, to outdoor festivals, the Price's singular vision and dazzling, irresistible live performances continue to etch a steady, upward arc.
