Friends of the Festival is excited to announce that Rock and Roll Hall of Fame inductee Little Richard will headline The Coca-Cola Stage on the last night of the 2009 Riverbend Festival, Saturday, June 13th at 9:30PM.
Known as the “The Architect of Rock 'n' Roll”, Little Richard is considered a key figure in the transition from rhythm & blues to rock & roll in the 1950s because of such hits as "Tutti Frutti", "Lucille" and "Long Tall Sally". He was subsequently honored by being one of seven of the first inductees into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 1986 and was one of only four of these honorees (along with Ray Charles, James Brown, and Fats Domino) to also receive the Rhythm & Blues Foundation's Pioneer Lifetime Achievement Award.
Riverbend is a nine day music festival located in downtown Chattanooga, Tennessee every June. The festival is located on the 21st Century Waterfront along the Tennessee River. Boasting five stages of world class entertainment ranging from classic rock and jam bands to country, urban and bluegrass the festival draws over 600,000 patrons annually. Riverbend has a Children's Village, Bluecross Riverbend Run and Walk, a Marketplace and Fireworks Finale.
