Chattanooga Celtic band, Ealaíonta, will also be performing. The music will be Celtic traditional tunes and songs taken from the pub session repertoire.

“This will be our first highland games performance, and we are very excited about the opportunity to perform for them. We understand one of the athletic event competitors has been chosen for Highland Team USA which will compete at the World Masters Competition in Inverness, Scotland in July, so this is an exciting time for this area.” says Hammered Dulcimer player Rick Davis. The Ringgold Highland Games will be located adjacent to the Bandy & Stagg Law Offices at 670 LaFayette Street in Ringgold, GA.

Ealaionta (pronounced ah-lee-AHN-ta) is three talented and experienced Chattanooga area musicians with varied musical backgrounds and a love of Celtic music. Flute/whistle player Ken Doyle says about this, “We try to find a rhythmic and harmonic structure that truly resonates with the traditional tunes, blending the pure-drop traditional with some contemporary influences without severing the roots the music comes from.”

The games are hosted by Radio Station WAAK 94.7FM, Bandy and Stagg Law Offices, the Ringgold Phone Company, and the Appalachian Celtic Connection. Ealaíonta will perform throughout the day at the gazebo. Come out and enjoy Scottish Highland Games, food, the opportunity to check out your Scottish heritage, and good Celtic music with us.
