La Paz de Dios will hold its fifth annual Feria Hispana on Sunday, May 3, from 11 am to 4 pm, at the First Tennessee Pavilion.

La Feria Hispana is a community-wide celebration embracing Latin-American culture by promoting awareness and appreciation through a family festival of music, dance and food. Held annually at the First Tennessee Pavilion, several thousand members of Chattanooga’s community enjoy various cultural displays along with the locally-made arts and crafts of the Chattanooga Market. The family-friendly event will be a day to recognize and appreciate Latin-American culture and traditions.

For those planning to attend, come hungry, ready to dance and to get a taste of Chattanooga’s vibrant Latino culture. A Chattanooga Market favorite, Tienda Jalisco will be selling authentic Mexican food, while the sounds of Latin band Tropical Swing and local DJ K[7] fill the pavilion. Throughout the day, Latin dancers will entertain the crowd, and kids can enjoy a performance by Virtue Mime Ministries.

“It’s always a pleasure to work with La Paz and La Feria Hispana,” said Jorge Parra, manager for the new Hawthorne & Main Grocery with Tienda Jalisco. “La Feria is a great opportunity for the community to come together on a single day to recognize and acknowledge our Latino culture and how we are all one big community.”

La Paz de Dios is the trusted guide for the Latino community in Chattanooga. Bridging the diverse Latino community to local and regional community resources, La Paz also provides service organizations a network in the Chattanooga community for those seeking to serve Latinos and learn how to better access and gain the trust of that population.

Since its formation in 2004, La Paz has sought to identify and address the social and humanitarian needs of the immigrant Latino community, locate and foster relationships with trusted organizations that can serve them, and provide the community with the confidence, capability, and education to become self-sufficient and resourceful. The mission of La Paz is to enable individuals to become more engaged community members to create a healthy, culturally-inclusive Chattanooga.
