Jazz saxophonist, Joe Johnson, and vocalist, Kevin Whalum, are bringing an early holiday gift to Chattanooga jazz lovers by making the Scenic City the second stop on the all-new Sax + Soul Tour. The concert will be held on Sunday, December 21 at 7 pm at the Chattanooga African American Museum/Bessie Smith Hall.
The all-new Sax+Soul Tour features two of jazz music’s great treasures on one stage for one BIG night! Joe Johnson and Kevin Whalum have both traveled internationally entertaining thousands with their unique gifts of music. Now, they travel together taking contemporary jazz and blending it with smooth R&B.
“Joe Johnson enjoyed the warm welcome he received when he performed in August at the Bessie Smith Heritage Festival so much that he asked that Chattanooga be included on their nationwide Sax + Soul Tour,” said Rose Martin, Executive Director of the Chattanooga African American Museum. “Jazz lovers will certainly be in for a double treat as both Joe Johnson and jazz vocalist, Kevin Whalum are crowd pleasers.”
