Presidents and patriotism dominate the current special exhibit at the Houston Museum of Decorative Arts. “With all eyes on the 2008 presidential election, we were inspired to bring out pieces that Anna Safley Houston collected which commemorate special events and people in the history of our country,” said Amy H. Frierson, the Houston director.
From ceramic plates documenting significant places or moments in the life of George Washington to a handsome art pottery vase by Weller incised with a bust of Abraham Lincoln, the display is replete with Americana.
