A special "Take Your Kids To Play" Day will be held at Coolidge Park on Saturday, April 12th, 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.for parents to introduce their children to this area’s outdoor recreation activities. This family fun day is being coordinated by the Chattanooga Area Chamber of Commerce's "Leadership Chattanooga" class in partnership with Outdoor Chattanooga. The event will highlight local outdoor groups, clubs, and organizations that provide many fun outdoor programs and activities.

“We want kids to get a first-hand look at some of the fun that Chattanooga’s geography makes possible and showcase Chattanooga’s outdoor recreation opportunities,” said Ben Friberg, one of the event organizers. “Parents and kids will be able to learn about and participate in many of the activities to see if there is something they want to explore further,” Friberg said.

Outdoor Chattanooga and the City's Parks and Recreation Department lead as resources to connect residents and visitors with the numerous events, programs, instruction, and groups that are available throughout the area.

Activities at the "Take Your Kids To Play" Day will include climbing, bouldering, canoing, biking, tent building, kayak-fitting and disc golf. Demonstrations will range from fly-casting to stationary skateboard tricks.

A full-size glider, hang glider and whitewater raft will be featured for kids to explore, and the Chattanooga Nature Center will have small animals present for kids to discover.
