Still life painting can offer a world of learning benefits to artists- not only can we study the techniques of oil painting, but we can also learn to use visuals as a way to communicate ideas. This class is designed to look at both of those aspects of a still life- how do you paint it, and what does it mean to you? Students will work from still life’s set up around the room, and Mia will discuss lighting, values, composition, color, edges, and how to work with narratives. We recommend having at least one oil painting class before taking this workshop.

There will be a one-hour lunch break each day. Lunch is on your own. For students traveling from out of town, please let us know if you need help with accommodation recommendations and we will be happy to help!
